Our mission: active participation in the green revolution.

While literally billions of LPs still exist in the world, most will soon become garbage. Vinylux harvests obsolete piles of records and gives new life to this neglected, but not forgotten, material.  Over the past 5 years, we have recycled about 400,000 records - about 120,000 pounds of vinyl and cardboard.  Leftover vinyl from coaster production is collected by a plastics recycler and re-processed.  Our non-usable album covers are recycled into chipboard.  Vinylux is committed to using post-consumer materials whenever possible, as well as non-toxic printing inks and minimal packaging.

Press & Exhibitions:
Vinylux has been featured in Fortune Small Business, RV Living, Gourmet Magazine, New York Magazine, The Boston Globe, Time Out New York, How, USA Weekend, The Providence Journal, New York Metro and Playboy. The entire line is a recipient of the International Design Resource Award for excellence in sustainable, eco-friendly design.  Our stepped bowl was featured in 'Trashformations' an exhibit developed by the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Mass.  The exhibit featured works created from reclaimed, recycled, and all manner of cast-off materials.  The exhibit is traveling to a number of museums around the US. Our bowls and clocks were featured as part of 'ReUse Refuse', an exhibition of recycled art and design at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education in Philadelphia.  The smooth record bowl is featured in Green Design, a book about sustainable product design, published in 2006 by Mark Batty Publisher.

Who we are:
Jeff Davis graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, with a Master's degree in Industrial Design.  It was at RISD where Vinylux began, as part of a graduate thesis project.  His work generally focuses on turning our familiar relationships with everyday objects into re-imagined experiences. Jeff has been making objects, furniture, and designing environments for over 15 years.  He earned his BFA in theatrical set design from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and has worked on numerous theater and television productions in New York.  Jeff has also collaborated with several artists to produce sculptures and installations both in New York and abroad.

Vinylux also employs several young artists who skillfully craft each of our products with love and care.
